What we learned in 2025, and why it matters for 2026

As 2025 draws to a close, Thomas Tredinnick, CEO and Co-Founder of Ally Cares, has recorded a short Christmas message reflecting on what we’ve learned from working alongside care homes across the UK, and how those insights are shaping our focus for 2026.

It’s a moment to pause, reflect, and look ahead.

One insight stood above all others

After working with hundreds of homes and care teams, one lesson has become impossible to ignore: Sleep drives everything.

Not as an isolated metric, but as the foundation of resident health. What Ally data is consistently showing is that homes make bigger improvements in falls, UTIs and infections by improving sleep than by tackling those issues individually. When residents stop having restless and uninterrupted sleep and start sleeping well, their whole health picture stabilises, and that’s what extends life.

This insight has changed how we think about risk, deterioration and prevention. And it’s reshaping how homes approach night-time care.

Why this matters beyond care quality

In the video, Tom also reflects on how these insights are being used in practice.

Homes using Ally aren’t just improving outcomes, they’re using night-time insight to:

  • protect occupancy and length of stay
  • strengthen reputation with families and commissioners
  • spot flashpoints earlier and act before incidents occur
  • align staffing and resources more intelligently, with safety first

For larger groups, this visibility is supporting calmer nights, better operational decisions including fewer checks and helping balance rising costs without compromising resident wellbeing.

Looking ahead to 2026

As we move into 2026, Ally’s focus is clear:
To continue developing technology that helps care teams understand what’s really happening, especially at night, and to turn those insights into longer, healthier lives for residents.

Tom’s message is about recognising what the data is telling us, and using that knowledge to shape what comes next.

If you haven’t already, we’d encourage you to take a few minutes to watch the video to hear Tom’s reflections and how Ally is shaping safer, longer lives in care heading into 2026.

It’s a simple message, but one with profound implications for how care is delivered, measured and sustained through resident monitoring systems. If this message resonates, we’d be happy to continue the conversation with you in the new year.
